    This is merely a summary of the MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan which does not include all relevant rules. For detailed provisions of the Regulations, please check the Laws & Regulations Database of the Republic of China online. Applicants shall comply with the Regulations.     Before you apply

    1. Make sure that you are eligible to apply as an international student.

    2. Please check if the departments or institutes that you wish to apply to are open to international students.

     

    How to apply

    Step1 Prepare all required documents. (See required documents)

    Step2 Check if the departments or institutes to which you are applying have additional requirements on documents or if they need oral or written exams. (See additional requirements – opens in new window)

    Step3 Fill in the online application form on the OIA website, and print out all required forms. (About Online application system – opens in new window)

    Step4 Either deliver in person before the deadline, or ensure that the complete application package arrives at the OIA office before the deadline. (See Key Dates)

  • Dept. of Chemical Engineering

    The Department has a variety of research programs, including polymer science, interfacial science, material science, bio-chemical and bio-medical engineering, process system engineering, transport phenomena, particulate technology, catalysis and reaction engineering, electrochemical engineering, and others. These research activities are central to the Department and provide a foundation for the application of fundamental science, the development of new applied sciences of practical interest, and an integrated environment for outstanding teaching and research.

Scholarships are offered by various organizations. Please note that admission applications and scholarship applications are separate, except for scholarships offered by NTU. Applicants who win any scholarship award are NOT guaranteed a university entrance admission, and vice versa. Applicants must pay attention to different deadlines for scholarships and school admission.

 

Taiwan Scholarship
International students may apply for the Taiwan Scholarship offered by the government. Please check www.edu.tw→ English→ Scholarships for detailed information. Applicants may apply from February 1st till end of March every year, at the Taiwan Overseas Mission (TOM) in their home country or the nearest country if there is no TOM in their home country. Scholarships Offered by NTU
NTU has 2 different types of scholarships offered ONLY to graduate students. They are International Graduate Student Scholarship(TWD 20,000 per month for one year) and International Graduate Student Support Fund(TWD10,000 per month for one year). Applicants do not need to submit any additional documents, indicating one’s intention on the NTU international student admission application form is sufficient.

International Degree Students can apply for accommodation. However, the University is NOT able to arrange accommodation for couples or families.


Prince (Ch. 太子) BOT House–NTU Chang Hsing (Ch. 長興)/Shuei Yuan (Ch. 水源) Dorms
Accommodation is provided by Prince Corp. in cooperation with NTU. There are two dormitories: Chang Hsin Dormitory and Shuei Yuan Dormitory which are near by the campus. The rent for a single room is about TWD 7,100 (USD 220) per person per month, and a double room is about TWD 4,700 (USD 150) per person per month. Internet and water are included in the rent, while electricity, telephone, and cable TV bills are separate. Facilities in the room include independent bathroom, bed (without mattress), table, book shelf, closet, refrigerator, air conditioning, 24-hour hot water, cable TV jack, internet, and telephone jack.
There are spacious communal living areas and meeting rooms on the first floor. A receptionist is on duty 24 hours a day. Bike storage and spacious car parking area (at an additional cost) are available in the basement. Sports facilities and separate male and female laundry rooms are located in the basement also.
The accommodation contract usually is signed for one year, and 2 month’s rent is required as a deposit. Winter and summer breaks are not free of charge. In case of early termination of the contract, the early termination fee is one month’s rent. Information about Off-campus Accommodation
Please note that the university does not assist students to find off-campus housing, but recommends the following website: www.tmm.org.tw

Time and cost for public transportation should be considered if living off-campus. It may take up to half an hour one way by MRT to get to the campus and the average cost for transportation per month may be about TWD 1,000 (USD 32). Normally, off-campus housing accommodates 2-4 people in one apartment with an average, rent of TWD 7,000 (USD 190) or more per month per person.

1. What are the credits restrictions of chemical engineering department for international students?

Ans:

Graduate credits of our department are 140 credits, including 101 required courses, 21 elective courses, and 18 general courses. Please be caution that if you fail 2/3 credits in a semester, with any following semester fail 1/2 credits, you were dropped out by the department.

 

2. Is there any special favor provided in campus?

Ans:

There are lots of useful sources in our campus, including free shower and free body fat measurement in the basement and 2nd floor of the new stadium respectively, free movie on the 4th floor of the main library, and free printing quota provided by the calculator center every semester.  In addition, healthcare center in the end of the main boulevard provided medical care with affordable price. If you are seeking for solution manuals for your courses, the basement of first men’s dormitory is a good place for you.

 

3. Is there any tasty restaurant near the campus?

Ans:

The second floor café near Din-jo street is a good place for you to spend a relaxed afternoon. They supply traditional American style cuisine. Another great choice is So Free Pizza near wen-zhou park. They provide homemade pizza with plenty cheese and stuff, which is incredible for your hungry belly.

 

4. Is there any must-see scenic spot near Taipei city?

Ans:

There are lots of places to have fun in Taipei and suburban area. 侯硐 is a newly developed tourist attraction famous in the down-to-earth country landscape and thousands of cats. Cats in the village are familiar with tourists and blend in the scene of this beautiful mountain village. Taipei arena is another good place to go. It is famous for the ice skating rink in Taipei downtown. Ferris wheel of Miramall is the biggest ferris wheel in Taipei. Be sure to take the ride at night and you can enjoy the fabulous night view of Taipei city.
