Application of Optimization Technology in Petrochemical Industry

With the rapid advancement of computing power optimization technology has been playing an increasingly important role in many industries including petroleum and chemicals. In this seminar 4 primary areas of applications will be discussed:
- Planning: for crude purchase and operation plan set-up.
- Real-time optimization: for continual online optimization.
- Model-predictive control: also serves as an optimizer.
- Supply chain and logistics optimization.
Besides these “traditional” applications the latest wave of data science and decision technology such as machine learning and artificial intelligence is also pushing for new ways to take advantage of the technology to improve profitability. An outlook will be given.
