Climate change is a globally shared concern and a growing trend in the development of sustainable issues worldwide. Since November 2015, the Ministry of Education has been promoting the "Climate Change Creative Practical Competition". Over the years, there have been more than 700 teams of college and university students participating, with diverse compositions and a wide range of project types. In recent years, there has been an increase in interdisciplinary and international students, reflecting the diverse nature of climate change issues. In previous years, 11 awards were established, and this year, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture, special awards have been added, expanding to a total of 17 awards. This not only provides more incentives for participating teams but also, through inter-agency collaboration, maximizes the comprehensive effects of the competition.
This year, our department's students, 葉佾叡, 周鼎勳, and 吳柏均 (guided by Professor Kuo-Lun Tung), participated in the "2023 Climate Change Creative Practical Competition." Their project, titled "黃河之水天Sun來," won the Gold Award for the innovative prospect of using simple, fast, low-cost, and scalable thin-film distillation for producing pure water. Congratulations to the three winning students!
