Congratulations to the student team guided by Professor Kuo-Lun Tung from our department for winning first place in the youth category and the Best Innovation Award at the "2024 Taiwan Marine Conservation International Youth Forum."

In response to the "United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development," and to encourage young students to participate in marine conservation, address marine issues, and utilize ocean science to overcome marine crises and challenges while promoting international exchange and interaction, we have collaborated with the American Institute in Taiwan Kaohsiung Branch Office (AIT/K) to organize the "2024 Taiwan Marine Conservation International Youth Forum." This event aims to deepen international ocean education and promote the development of marine science research.

Among the participating youth teams, students Yi-Jui Yeh, 陳劭宇, and 陳鼎傑( (from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology), guided by Distinguished Professor Kuo-Lun Tung, presented a project on purifying seawater along the southern coast using a magical sponge. Their innovative solution to marine crises, which can also be applied to generating hydroelectric energy, won first place in the youth category and received the Best Innovation Award from the Ocean Affairs Council.
