On December 14, the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU) hosted a thanksgiving banquet to celebrate two significant milestones: the 80th anniversary of the Department’s restructuring and the inauguration of the newly renovated Chemical Engineering Building I. The event was enthusiastically attended by over 300 faculty members, students, alumni, and industry partners, who gathered to witness this momentous occasion.
The proceedings began with the inauguration ceremony for the renovated Chemical Engineering Building I. Originally opened in 1963, the building has stood for over sixty years, nurturing the growth of countless students. With the renovation now complete, the building presents a revitalized modern appearance and will continue to serve as a vital hub for the Department's teaching and research. This transformation symbolizes a new chapter for the Department—honoring its rich heritage while looking forward to a bright future.
The Department was officially reconstituted as the National Taiwan University Department of Chemical Engineering in November 1945. During the 80th Anniversary Thanksgiving Banquet, a retrospective video was screened, showcasing the Department's eight-decade journey. The video served to unite the shared memories and strengthen the bonds between faculty, students, and alumni across generations.
The event also featured a touching retirement ceremony honoring Professor Huan-Jang Keh, Professor Kuo-Chuan Ho, and Ms. Hui-Chun Liu. The Department expressed its deepest gratitude for their years of dedication and contribution to teaching, research, and administration. The ceremony concluded in a warm and moving atmosphere.
