I. Purpose
Dr. Terry Chern, an alumnus of the NTU Chemical Engineering Class of 1975, established this scholarship to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to actively engage in academic research and chemical product development. The scholarship funds the department’s Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis and Chemical Product Development Competition.
II. Eligibility
Current students of the Department of Chemical Engineering (both undergraduate and graduate). Participants may enter individually or as a team. For team entries, the specific contributions or percentages of work for each member must be detailed.
III. Application Process

By April 29, 2026 (Wed): Submit the Application Form (Appendix 1) and Work Authorization Agreement (Appendix 2) via email to Ms. Chou周筱妘 at hychou28573@ntu.edu.tw (or submit hard copies to the Department Office, Room N204, Chem. Eng. Building II).

By May 4, 2026 (Mon): Email your Poster (electronic file) and Presentation Slides to hychou28573@ntu.edu.tw.

Poster Exhibition: Submit and display your poster (Format: A0, Portrait) at the designated time and location (to be announced).

Judging Criteria: Please refer to Appendix 3 and the "Important Notes" in Section IX.
IV. Time and Location
Afternoon of May 13, 2026 (Wed) at Chemical Engineering Building II.
V. Competition Format
The competition consists of an Oral Presentation (7–10 mins) using slides and a poster placed beside as a reference, followed by a Q&A session (6–10 mins) with the judges.
VI. Judging Committee
The "Chemical Product Development Competition Judging Committee" is composed of at least five experts from academia and industry, invited by the Department Chair and the Student Affairs Committee. Detailed scoring and scholarship regulations are provided in Appendices 3 and 4.

Bronze Award (1): NT$8,000 + Certificate

Honorable Mention (Multiple): NT$1,000 (typically) + Certificate (Awards may be withheld if entries do not meet the standards.)
VIII. Academic Integrity
Any winning entry found to violate academic ethics will be handled in accordance with the department and university "Guidelines for Handling Academic Ethics Violations."
IX. Important Notes for Registration
A. Product Commercialization: This competition focuses on "Commercialization" and should be distinguished from purely academic research reports. To align with product development goals, reports should emphasize:

Market problems to be solved and product positioning.

Key innovations and differences from existing products or technologies.

Experimental design, testing methods, or other feasibility verification results.
B. Poster Layout: The layout should highlight the points mentioned above. Suggested methods include:

A mandatory Abstract at the top, summarizing the problem, design method, and key conclusions.

Moving the Conclusions to the top section for immediate clarity, unlike traditional academic posters where they are placed at the bottom.
C. Information Sharing: Winners may be asked to provide their report information as a reference for future participants.
