[Scholarship] Doctoral Scholarships for Academic Year 2026/2027

Target Recipients: Enrolled graduate students in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Application Deadline: From now until June 26, 2026.

 

Scholarship No. 1: NSTC-Allocated PhD Scholarship

Eligibility

  • PhD Students: Open to all current PhD students and incoming freshmen. (International students please contact the Office of International Affairs for eligibility queries).
  • Applicants must not have any violations of the regulations stipulated in the Scholarship Establishment Guidelines regarding the prohibition of receiving other restricted or concurrent scholarships.

Funding Amount & Quota

  • Amount: NT$40,000 per month.
  • Duration: From September 1 of the current year to August 31 of the third year, for a maximum of 3 years. For students who graduate within 3 years, the scholarship will terminate in the month of graduation.
  • Funding Source: Fully funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).
  • Quota: A maximum of 4 nominees may be recommended by the department.

  1. NSTC-Allocated PhD Scholarship Application Sheet.
  2. Scholarship Application Submission Form (Appendix 3).
  3. A photocopy of the front cover of your financial institution passbook.
  4. Official transcripts for your PhD program (PDF versions downloaded from the online student system are acceptable).
  5. Official transcripts for your Master's program (PDF versions downloaded from the online student system are acceptable).
  6. The first page of each publication listed in your publication bibliography (if applicable).
  7. Other supporting materials beneficial for the review process (if applicable).

  • Appendix 1: National Taiwan University Guidelines for the Establishment of Doctoral Scholarships.

  • Appendix 2-1: NSTC-Allocated PhD Scholarship Application Data Sheet.

  • Appendix 3: Scholarship Application Submission Form (including Publication Bibliography).

Scholarship No.2: MOE Doctoral Scholarship

Eligibility

  1. Academic Standing: Domestic (ROC nationality), non-working (regular/full-time) students who will be in their 1st to 3rd year of a PhD program as of September 2026.
  2. Applicants must not have any violations of the regulations stipulated in the Scholarship Establishment Guidelines regarding the prohibition of receiving other restricted or concurrent scholarships.

Amount and Quota

NT$40,000 per month.

From August 1 of the current year to July 31 of the following year. However, for students entering their 3rd year of PhD studies in September of the current year, funding will only be provided until the end of their 3rd academic year.

Priority: To encourage outstanding students to fast-track into doctoral studies, priority will be given to students admitted through the direct admission PhD program.

Funding Schemes

  • Scheme A: NT$30,000 subsidized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) + NT$10,000 subsidized by the University, College, or Department.
  • Scheme B: NT$30,000 subsidized by the MOE + NT$10,000 subsidized by the College or Department (with additional matching funds).

Note: In principle, the subsidy portion from the college/department shall be covered by the applicant’s advising professor.

  1. MOE Doctoral Scholarship Application Data Sheet (Appendix 2-2; the ranking of the subsidy schemes must be filled out and signed by your advising professor).
  2. Scholarship Application Submission Form (Appendix 3).
  3. A photocopy of the front cover of your financial institution passbook.
  4. Official transcripts for your PhD program (PDF versions downloaded from the online student system are acceptable).
  5. Official transcripts for your Master's program (PDF versions downloaded from the online student system are acceptable).
  6. The first page of each publication listed in your publication bibliography (if applicable).
  7. Other supporting materials beneficial for the review process (if applicable).
