      • Surface modification of biomaterials for improvement in biocompatibility:
        development of new surface modification techniques to enhance biomaterials’ biocompatibility with respect to cell affinity or anti-fouling ability.
      • Cell responses to surface topographies:
        investigation of the effects of surface micro-/nano-metric topographies on cell morphology, adhesion, growth and differentiation in order to control cell behaviors and apply to tissue engineering.
      • Biomaterial development for tissue engineering applications:
        development of scaffolds in the form of hydrogels or nanofibers, that are incorporated with active biomolecules for cell growth and differentiation.
